McCain Foods USA Donates Emergency Response Vehicleto Nebraska Red Cross
Grand Island, Neb - - May 6, 2010 - - As part of its national partnership with the American Red Cross, McCain Foods USA, will present the Central Plains Chapter of the American Red Cross with an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) that will be used by the chapter in its response efforts.
The Central Plains Chapter, which is responsible for Red Cross services in central Nebraska, operates in an area that encompasses 46 of the 93 counties in the state and includes a total of 43,000 square miles or 56% of Nebraska.
The new ERV, a state-of-the-art mobile service vehicle, has been retro-fitted to include GPS, radio, logistical capabilities and all of the life-saving equipment the Red Cross needs on its response missions.
“We may not have the population numbers like metro areas, but we do have a large responsibility and we have great geographic challenges to overcome,” notes Donna Titman, CEO, Central Plains Regional Chapter. “This ERV will be crucial in allowing us to get where we need to go and have the equipment we need to be effective when we get there.”
As part of its on-going association with the American Red Cross, McCain Foods, USA donates one ERV per year to American Red Cross chapters in cities where it has processing facilities.
“McCain began its national partnership with the American Red Cross in 2006 and this has given our employees wonderful volunteer opportunities to work with their local chapters throughout the year,” said Scott Chaney, Grand Island McCain Plant Manager. “It’s also allowed us to be part of the lifesaving work the Red Cross does by providing them with a tool that is crucial to their mission.”
