MCCAIN FOODS® CONTRIBUTES TO BUILDING CHICAGO’S NEW RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE®

The Frozen Food Leader Pays Tribute to the Heart of the Home

CHICAGO – 2.11.2010 – McCain Foods® donated $100,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana (RMHC-CNI®) to support the development of the new Ronald McDonald House in the heart of Chicago, which is set to open in 2012.

“Partnering with our long time friend, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, on an undertaking that will provide care and comfort to families of hospitalized children, is an honor for us,” said Frank van Schaayk, President and CEO, McCain Foods USA. “As a company dedicated to great food, we were thrilled to contribute to the House’s state-of-the-art kitchen. Our true hope is this effort will help provide home cooked meals and a nurturing environment where families can connect and replenish for years and years to come.”

Nestled among four world class hospitals, the new Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Prentice Women’s Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the LEED (Leadership Energy & Environmental Design) Certified House will serve as a haven of compassion and hope for families who travel from all parts of the globe to get their children the finest health care.

“We are thrilled McCain Foods is a part of this lasting legacy in the heart of Chicago,” said Doug Porter, the chief executive officer of RMHC-CNI. “It’s an honor to be associated with a highly respected company that has a long standing commitment to giving back to the community.”

Reflecting the beauty of the city, the House, located at 211 East Grand will rise 14 stories above the streets with 86 private rooms to provide a “home away from home” for guests. The House will have three communal floors, with balconies on the dining floor and a rooftop retreat, to give the families a chance to relax after long days in the hospital, while enjoying views of the city.
